Themes: 
This picture represents this theme because it shows a pair of hand's praying which goes along with the faith that Elie is losing. So he is praying to the God. 
1. Eliezer’s Struggle to Maintain Faith in a Benevolent God
This theme is telling that Elie is losing faith and struggling with God he no longer believes that he is there to help them in anyway. He is the one that is putting them to work and making them starve. He believes that there is no God at all and that all of his beliefs is really worth nothing anymore.

It shows a girl telling people to be quiet or be silent by putting her finger her to her lips. Motioning for everyone to keep quiet.
2. Silence
Silence shows what the camp was like after thousand and thousands of Jews were put to work until they died of sickness or no strength to pursue on. The many that died going into the crematorium. The many children and families that everyone had lost during those long and horrific days and nights. The ruthless beatings they all endured.

3. Inhumanity Toward Other Humans

The picture shows inhumanity the way that people starved and would be on the side of the street waiting for food or even help.

The theme is telling that Inhumanity to other humans is treating them like there an animal they beat them, they show them disrespect, they are not human to them. They do not care whether they live or die. The have no respect for them in any way. They would let them starve to death and die of thirst if that is what they please for them. (dailymail.co.uk)

4. The Importance of Father-Son Bonds
It shows father and son bonding to each other it shows they love one another. That they are close as a family.
The importance of father-son bond is you always have someone to talk and it's your own father. You always look up to him and listen to everything he say's. Elie shows this when they enter the camp and he is taken away from his mother. All he has left of a family is his father, and his father is dying slowly each and evry day.

Symbols:

1. Fire
The picture of the fire symbols all of the killings that had happened at the camps most due to people being thrown into the crematorium.
The first time Elie saw this when he seen babies being thrown into fire pits. He would never forget that horrific image he glanced at. He could smell human flesh burning as the smoke filled the air with the scent. The crematorium was a place many Jews were taken and were put to death.

2. Night
 Night represents the symbol that many Jews was maybe a time where they could rest or they could die for how cold it was during the Night. 
They would have barely enough clothes to keep them warm at Night many died cause of this weather condition. Others were hospitalized due to illness. Night also shows a time of silence and time where some Jews prayed to God hoping in the morning this would all be over, or that hopefully this will be their last and final night of life.
